GETTING AROUND STOCKHOLM

Stockholm is an incredibly walkable city, especially in the wonderful summer weather. If you don't feel like walking, you can find Lime (or similar) eScooters everywhere across the city. The easily navigable Stockholm Metro is often referred to as "the world’s longest art gallery" due to the unique decorations at more than 90 of its stations, including sculptures, paintings, and light installations created by over 150 artists. Uber and Taxi Stockholm 15000 are also great ways to get around.

EATING & DRINKING

We’ve rounded up some favorite spots across the city, from casual cafes to splurge‑y dinners and late‑night drinks. We highly recommend you review this list early and make reservations in advance! Classic &amp; Crowd‑Pleasers♥ Riche – Lively Stockholm institution that’s great for classic dishes (including our favorite Swedish meatballs).​ Going during off hours gives you a better chance at a table if you don't have a reservation.Lilla Baren – Cozy, casual spot right next to Riche (same menu/kitchen) that works well for drinks or a relaxed bite.​ Typically easier to get a table than Riche.♥ Brasserie Astoria – Elegant brasserie with a grand, classic feel (set in a former theater) that’s perfect for a dressed‑up dinner or elevated lunch.​ Caesar Salad, Toast Astoria, Steak Frites, and Cognac flambéed beef tenderloin are all personal favorites of ours. Despite what you might be thinking, this place is a gem and has lines around the corner. Things To Do

Explore Gamla Stan (Old Town)Founded in 1252, Gamla Stan is the historic heart and birthplace of Stockholm, featuring cobblestone streets, medieval alleyways, cozy cafés, and colorful buildings. Visit the Vasa MuseumOne of the most visited museums in Scandinavia, see a fully preserved 17th-century warship that sank on its maiden voyage. This is one of Aje's favorites. Watch the Changing of the Guard at the Royal PalaceDaily ceremony outside one of Europe’s largest palaces (also located in Gamla Stan). You can also tour the opulent interiors and museums inside. Visit the ABBA MuseumFor ABBA fans and music lovers alike, the museum offers a joyful, immersive experience with superb storytelling and plenty of chances to sing, dance, and strike a pose. Buy timed tickets in advance. This is one of Gabby's favorites. Wander Through FotografiskaWorld-class contemporary photography museum, with great café with panoramic views over the water. Embrace Fika CultureSwedish tradition of pausing for coffee and a treat like a Kanelbulle (cinnamon bun), Kardemummabulle (cardamom bun), or Chokladbol (chocolate ball). Try Authentic Swedish CandyThis is one of Aje's must-do's if you have a sweet tooth. Stop by any ICA or other grocery store for a Lösgodis candy wall: hundreds of varieties of candy—sour, sweet, chewy, salty—sold by weight; expect your bag to feel heavier than it looks. Visit Gröna Lund (Amusement Park)Located within walking distance of the city, you will find a beautiful historic amusement park with modern attractions (think Tivoli in Copenhagen not Universal Studios) with some of the best views of Stockholm if you dare to ride the free falls. Note, somewhat child-/teen- oriented but with a few thrilling rides. Visit Skansen (World's 1st Open Air Museum and Zoo)Showcasing 400 years of Swedish history, it features historic, transplanted buildings, a Nordic wildlife zoo (wolves, bears, reindeer), and traditional craft demonstrations to illustrate Swedish life, culture, and nature. For a fun and flexible way to see the city, try a Hop-On Hop-Off bus or boat tour, or take a ride on the unique Ocean Bus—an amphibious sightseeing vehicle that explores Stockholm by both land and water.

To make your travel planning as easy as possible, we’ve put together all the important details, including flight recommendations, hotel options (see Accommodations tab), and transportation tips. Whether you're coming for a quick getaway or turning it into a full vacation, we’ve got you covered. Check out the info below, and if you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

CHECK YOUR PASSPORTS!

Please double-check the expiration date of your passports! For travel to Sweden, a US passport needs to be valid for at least six months beyond your planned departure date from the European Union. Current processing time after applying for new and renewed U.S. passports is 6-8 weeks - please plan accordingly. Travel Visas: Americans do not need travel visas (ETIAS) to travel to the EU in June 2026.

Traveling to and from sweden

For our guests traveling from the U.S. directly into the wedding weekend, the latest recommended departure is Wednesday, June 10th, to ensure you arrive in time for our Thursday evening welcome event. Keep in mind the time difference—an afternoon or evening flight from the U.S. typically lands in Sweden by mid-morning. We highly suggest catching some sleep on an overnight flight to help "beat" the initial jet lag! For those heading home after the wedding, we recommend departing on Sunday. Most return flights are scheduled for the morning, and with the time difference, you’ll be back in the U.S. by Sunday night. If you're considering leaving Saturday, please note that festivities will go into Saturday's early morning hours (around 3 AM), so it may be a bit of a rushed turnaround. We’d love for you to join us for brunch on Saturday and take some time to explore Stockholm before heading home!Let us know if you have any travel questions—we’re happy to help!

FLIGHTS

While we can't recommend specific flights, some details to keep in mind are that booking well in advanced will provide you the most ideal itineraries at better prices - the earlier you start planning the better. Based on experience, booking by January or February for June travel should provide affordable options to you. Cost Saving Tip - Find your preferred itinerary in <a href="https://www.google.com/travel/flights?gl=GB&amp;hl=en-GB" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Google Flights</a> and turn on Price Tracking for your preferred itinerary well in advanced. You'll be notified via email as the prices rise and drop as well as similar options that become available! In terms of airlines, there are several nonstop flights from New York through Delta, United and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), but Stockholm is also accessible with layovers in convenient European airports like Amsterdam, Zurich, Frankfurt and more. We highly recommend avoiding Paris (CDG) as a layover airport if at all possible. If you have to, please give yourself 4+ hours between flights - it is common to miss connections at CDG.

See the "Things to Do" tab for more information on this but Stockholm is an incredibly walkable city, especially in the wonderful summer weather. Public Transport, Ubers, Taxis (through the Taxi Stockholm App) are also great ways to get around.

TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT

Stockholm's Arlanda Airport is located approximately 40 minutes from the Östermalm neighborhood of Stockholm, where all the wedding events will take place. TAXIS Taxis are available (and recommended) to get from the Airport to Stockholm. We suggest using "Taxi Stockholm 15000", the most reputable tax company, which offers a flat fare to the city for approximately $60. You do not need to book this in advance. Other taxi companies are also available, but don't expect to save money this way, and we can't vouch for the experience. AIRPORT TRAIN The "Arlanda Express" is an airport train available to and from Stockholm's central station ("T-Centralen") for approximately $35 per person. The Stockholm Metro is very easy to use, but you will have to make several changes to get from Arlanda to your destination. UBERS Ubers are also available to and from the airport (and throughout Stockholm).

HOW THEY MET

Gabby and Aje have officially been together for over five years, but their story began much earlier—at a high school house party in the summer of 2012. They met as friends of friends (though to this day, the exact Boston-area town remains a mystery) and ended up chatting the night away. Aje forgot to get Gabby’s number that night, but a week later, determined not to let the connection slip away, he sent her a Facebook friend request and reached out. They texted for a bit, but as the school year began, life pulled them in different directions and they lost touch. Over the years, they remained distant acquaintances, quietly following each other's lives on Instagram. It wasn’t until an epic birthday party at D’s Keys in South Boston that fate stepped in again. Their worlds collided once more, and Gabby still happened to have Aje’s number. By the next fall, they went on their first real date: a Maggie Rogers concert. Just a month later, Aje joined Gabby on a work trip to Japan—and that spontaneous adventure marked the beginning of forever. Though they lived in separate cities—Gabby in Boston and Aje in New York—they made it work seamlessly. In the years since, they’ve created a home together in Tribeca with their two cats and traveled the world together, taking countless trips and building a life rooted in curiosity, laughter, and deep partnership. Among all the places they’ve explored, Sweden has become a particularly special place—close to Aje’s roots and now close to Gabby’s heart, too. They can’t wait to welcome you to this incredible country this June to celebrate the next chapter of their love story.
